For about six months, Hazel has, at least once a day, drawn a picture of the two of us. Sometimes we are fairies, sometimes I have hair (I often don't though . . .?), sometimes we are holding balloons, and other times we are standing in a flowerbed. But today, she came home from school with her first mama-free picture. I asked her why she didn't draw me too, and she said, "Well, I can do all the Mama-things now." I suppose this is her way of telling me that I have become obsolete. I always thought I'd have a few more years. There are so many more things I wanted to teach her. Alas.
